KITA KITAR MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL
at BABYLON MATLOUNGE
By Kamila Delart
Babylon MatLounge, Pantai Cenang’s hip beach bar, was on Saturday the 31st March the place to be! The popular hang-out place held for the very first time the Kita Kitar Music & Arts Festival.
Malaysian Reggae, Soul Dub Sound from Ireland, Rock music from Thailand, Soul Fusion from Indonesia… The stage was vibrating without a break in the rhythm of changing beats, getting the crowd in a party mood.
After hours of ecstatic dance, a horde of people stormed the food stalls with pizza, satay sticks und yummy noodles, while others chilled out with a beer, a glass of martini or shisha and enjoyed a relaxing foot massage.
With stalls displaying ethnic jewelry, batik summer dresses and colorful hammocks, gals had a hard time to resist some retail therapy.
The highlight of the event? A brilliant Sunset Fire Show in a drum circle!
Although one hell of a party, Kita Kitar Music & Arts Festival was more than a great bash!
The owner of Babylon MatLounge, Johan, is an environmentalist at heart. Having built his bar from driftwood and other cast-off material, and following in daily business sustainable practices, he is passionate about saving the planet.
As an inspiration to follow his lead, there was a recycling awareness video, while the proceeds from recycled bottles and cans along with a percentage of takings from stalls were donated to the Charity Club Langkawi.
A perfect blend of giving people the time of their life while doing the right thing!
