Once you are ready for your lunch or dinner, head to the Straits Club House, a ninety years old estate from Penang that enchants with a dreamy colonial ambiance. Those who love alfresco dining can chose a table next to the pool underneath a shade-giving canopy of ancient trees. Families are likely to fall in love with the small private dining room. But the most popular dining venue is the airy verandah with beautiful carvings and antique bistro tables with marble tops.

Dressed in traditional batik kain sarungs, the waiters carry themselves just as in the famous colonial times. Discreet, they let you enjoy an intimate time with your loved one, and yet your glass will never remain empty, and your plate will be cleared the moment you finish your meal.
The servant quarters have been converted into a kitchen that specializes in Fusion and Western Cuisine, serving meals so delicious, dining at The Straits Club Restaurant became for many expatriates a weekly ritual.

Begin with tropical seafood cocktail with slipper lobster, prawns, spiced coconut and basil or savor a pumpkin and feta cheese tortellini with raisins soaked in tea and cashew nuts spiced with cumin vinaigrette. For a main course, chose a sea bass on roasted potatoes with spicy carrot and coriander salad or a zaätar crusted lamb with caramelized crushed pumpkin and baby spinach. The perfect finale? Apple and guava crumble with cinnamon custard and vanilla ice cream!

In case you fear to be slightly overwhelmed by the many tantalizing choices, make reservations for a Wine Dinner available every Friday. The weekly changing set menu may surprise you with delicacies such as seared scallops with sweet potato and roasted garlic puree with coconut, coriander and cashew chutney, chicken with turmeric-lime rice and chili jam and orange-almond cake with lemongrass ice cream. Accompanied by an exquisite selection of wines - an out-of-this world dining experience!
