GRAND OPENING OF
FOUR POINTS
BY SHERATON LANGKAWI RESORT
On Friday, November 4, around 150 guests attended a momentous event organized to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Sheraton Langkawi Beach Resort, and the Grand Opening of Four Points by Sheraton Langkawi.
In his engaging welcome speech, the Global Upline Hotels & Resorts Group Advisor, Tan Sri Ting Pek Khiing, went down the memory lane, recalling how he came to our magical island 20 years ago, entrusted with the assignment to build within 100 days!!! the first 5* hotel on the island to provide accommodation to the visitors of the very first LIMA Exhibition. Facing logistic challenges due to the missing infrastructure and lack of building materials on the island, and expected to follow an extremely tight timeline, the project seemed more than ambitious.
But as the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr. Mahathir Bin Mohamad later stated, ‘The mad people were right, and the sane ones with all their reasonable doubts were proven wrong!’ The Sheraton Langkawi Beach Resort featuring 238 rooms opened its doors in time! – Leading the way for an amazing development that turned our magical island in the following twenty years into a prime tourist destination.
‘If a man is determined to make things happen, he will succeed!’, added Tun Dr. Mahathir Bin Mohamad a moment later. – An inspiring statement that applies equally to the opening of the Four Points By Sheraton Langkawi Resort, the first in the Asia Pacific region.
Situated on a secluded beach, and strategically located only 1.5 km away from the Langkawi International Airport, and within walking distance to the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre, the resort will cater to leisure guests as well as being an ideal venue for conferences, business meetings and social functions.
Featuring 214 rooms in a contemporary stylish design, an all-glass walled ballroom with panoramic views of the scenic Andaman Sea, the largest infinity swimming pool on the island, state-of-the art gym, Kids Club, and a variety of Food & Beverage outlets, the Four Points By Sheraton Langkawi Resort is truly an exciting addition to the hospitality industry in Langkawi.
