HARI RAYA GIFTS
The Charity Club Langkawi visited 34 of ‘our’ Malay families to give them a special gift containing Hari Raya goodies. These parcels, which included cookies homemade by one of our Committee Members, were in addition to the deliveries of essentials which we distribute every 4 weeks, and in some cases, every 2 weeks.
In addition, each preschool child and school/university/college student received a traditional Hari Raya envelope.
One of our single mothers and her two children were delighted to meet their Australian sponsor, who was in Langkawi on holiday and took time out to present the Hari Raya parcel and take the family shopping for new clothes. They also brought beautiful gifts from Australia.
One family of 6 received homemade cookies sent from Australia made by the Diana’s Malay mother.
Our thanks to a local businessman who donated the cost of the parcels, to other supporters who made donations, to Tony and Lyn from Australia and Diana, her mother and Chris, also from Australia – your generosity helped us to make Hari Raya special.
