Pantai Cenang now has its own yoga centre called Yoga Now. It is run by Marc and Meng Foong - an Irish and Malaysian couple who have already been teaching yoga in Malaysia and overseas for many years. They recently moved their yoga centre in Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi, tempted by the peaceful environment, the fresh clean air and the beautiful nature.

They teach daily morning and afternoon classes in their new centre, situated in a beautiful traditional Malay wooden house ten minutes walk from the beach in Pantai Cenang. They also run yoga retreats for those who are interested in taking the practice of yoga a little further.

An Introduction to the Philosophy Of Yoga

The word yoga, from the Sanskrit word yuj means to yoke or bind and is often interpreted as “union” or a method of discipline. Unlike stretching or fitness, yoga is more than just physical postures. The physical practice is just one aspect of yoga. Today most people practicing yoga are engaged in the third limb, asana, which is a program of physical postures designed to purify the body and provide the physical strength and stamina required for long periods of meditation.

Even within the physical practice, yoga is unique because we connect the movement of the body and the fluctuations of the mind to the rhythm of our breath. Connecting the mind, body, and breath helps us to direct our attention inward. Through this process of inward attention, we learn to recognize our habitual thought patterns without labeling them, judging them, or trying to change them. We become more aware of our experiences from moment to moment. The awareness that we cultivate is what makes yoga a practice, rather than a task or a goal to be completed. Reiki - a short Overview

What is Reiki?
Reiki is basically a Japanese art of Stress Reduction and Deep Relaxation which prompts healing. It is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use.

How is it applied?
It is administered by “laying on of hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

What happens during a Reiki Treatment?
During a Reiki Treatment, the client will feel a deep sense of relaxation and a warm or tingling sensation. They may also feel certain parts of their body becoming warm. The overall feeling is that of calmness and deep relaxation. Reiki is yet another way to help mankind find a sense of inner peace and joy which leads to less stress in their life. Less stress means less sickness and disease. It has no affiliation with any religion yet will blend well with any religion of either the practitioner or the receiver. Reiki is energy harnessed and passed through. The feeling of deep relaxation is within your reach.
